Movies, shows, downloads — open them right here in your browser. No app to install, no uploads, nothing leaves your device.
A simple, free online video player for the files other players give up on. Drop a movie, paste a link — it just plays.
Old AVI clips, big MKV downloads, modern 4K HDR movies — even formats your browser usually refuses to open (HEVC, AV1, VP9). No converting, no plugins, nothing extra to install. Just open the file.
Your videos never go anywhere. Nothing is uploaded to a server, nothing is stored online, no one is tracking you. It all runs right inside your browser, on your own device.
Switch between subtitle languages, jump between audio tracks (English / Hindi / dub) — the controls are right there. Works with subtitles built into the file and with separate .srt or .ass files you've downloaded.
4K HDR? No problem. Your computer's graphics card does the heavy lifting (using your browser's WebCodecs engine), so playback stays smooth and your laptop doesn't turn into a heater.
Three steps. No sign-up, no installs, no waiting.
Drag a file onto the page, click "Pick a video" to browse, or paste a video link. Whatever's easiest — folders work too, the whole folder becomes a playlist.
No "unsupported format" errors. No "install this codec" pop-ups. No converting. Whatever you give it — an MKV with HEVC, an old AVI, a 4K HDR file — it figures it out and plays right away.
Speed up, slow down, picture-in-picture, fullscreen, keyboard shortcuts, scrub thumbnails, even-loudness audio — everything you'd expect from a real video player, all built in.
Pretty much anything. From old AVI files to modern 4K HDR movies — right in your browser, with no software to install. Behind the scenes it uses FFmpeg (the same engine that powers VLC and most pro tools) along with your browser's WebCodecs API for fast, hardware-accelerated playback.
File types: MKV, MP4, AVI, FLV, MOV, MPEG-TS, WebM and more. Video codecs: H.264, H.265 (HEVC), AV1, VP8, VP9. Audio: AAC, Opus, FLAC, MP3, AC3, and more. HDR: HDR10 and HLG also work on compatible displays.
When Chrome or Firefox shows “this video can’t be played” or a black screen, it’s almost always the codec inside the file — not the file itself. MoviPlayer fills exactly those gaps: it decodes everything locally with your browser’s WebCodecs engine, with no server transcoding and nothing to install.
H.265 (HEVC) is licensed, so most browsers refuse to decode it — you get an error or no picture at all. MoviPlayer plays HEVC right in the browser, including 10-bit and 4K HDR.
Browsers don’t understand the MKV container, so the <video> tag simply gives up. Drop the .mkv here and it plays instantly — no VLC, no MPV, no download.
Newer AV1 files and some VP9 streams won’t open on older browsers or machines missing the codec. This WebCodecs video player decodes them in software when hardware can’t, so they play anyway.
Can’t install VLC on a managed or work laptop? You don’t need to. MoviPlayer is a browser video player with no install — just open the page and play, even where software is blocked.
There’s no server transcoding involved: your file is never uploaded or re-encoded in the cloud. Demuxing, decoding and subtitles all happen on your own device.
Just drop the file on this page, or paste the link. That's it — no sign-up, no app to download. MoviPlayer is a free online video player that runs right in your browser and handles tricky formats like MKV, HEVC, AV1, HDR and VP9 that most browsers can't open on their own.
Yes. Drop the file (MKV, MP4, AVI, MOV, FLV, TS — anything really) or paste a video link. MoviPlayer decodes the video locally on your device using your browser's built-in WebCodecs engine, so nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Most likely yes. The "can't play" message usually means your browser doesn't recognize the codec inside the file — HEVC (H.265), AV1, VP9 and HDR are common culprits. MoviPlayer handles all of these and plays them right in your browser, no extra software needed.
Nowhere. Your videos stay on your device — nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored on any server. All the playback (decoding, subtitles, everything) happens locally in your browser using the WebCodecs API. Your file never leaves your computer.
No. Just open moviplayer.com in any modern browser and start playing. No downloads, no plug-ins, no sign-up. There's also an optional Chrome extension if you want a "Play here" button on every video link — but you don't need it.
File types: MKV, MP4, WebM, AVI, MOV, FLV, WMV, TS, M4V. Video inside: H.264, H.265 (HEVC), AV1, VP9, MPEG-4. Subtitles: built-in subtitles plus separate .srt, .ass and .vtt files. Multiple audio tracks (English / Hindi / dub) and HDR videos work too.
Nothing. MoviPlayer is completely free. No ads, no sign-up, no "premium" tier, no limits on file size or how often you use it.
